Low-budget shooting in Serbia and Montenegro

Republica is the only company on the Czech market that offers a direct production representation in Belgrade. Shooting costs in Serbia and neighbouring Montenegro enable us to prepare cost estimates offering a very favourable relationship between the quality and price.

Shooting in Belgrade, either in art studios or on locations, is usually up to 30% cheaper than in the Czech Republic even after expenses for transport and accommodation of clients are added.

Serbia - Belgrade

Although Serbia is a small country and has some shortcomings in specialized services it does have a long tradition of film production and offers lots of advantages.

Locations situated north of Belgrade and in the capital city itself are, from the architectural point of view, very similar to those in Central Europe as they have the same heritage of Austro-Hungarian architecture. However, compared to the Czech Republic, it is usually much cheaper to rent important locations (such as the City Library, the Museum of Modern Arts, large parks or squares) and also the administration part of location reservation is not so complicated. Similarly locations with modern interior architecture are on a very high level and available for acceptable prices. Set building and the lease of medium-size studios is budget-priced too.

Local castings offer suitable alternatives to the well known faces from the Czech screen. What's more, English is spoken widely and therefore there is no language barrier. Cast prices are similar for those paid in the Czech Republic, only in cases where a commercial is broadcast in more regions do the prices go down dramatically compared to the Czech Republic.

Filmmakers may be even less nervous thanks to the weather which is somewhat more favourable and stable in Belgrade.

Unfortunately, shooting in Belgrade has some disadvantages too stemming from a different cultural and social past. Another big drawback is the absence of film laboratories.

However, Republica has implemented more than 10 projects in Belgrade to the complete satisfaction of its clients to whom it offered a production value they would have never achieved in the Czech Republic due to their limited budgets.

Montenegro

Our services also cover production in Montenegro, similarly direct, without the splitting of the service and production commission.

Montenegro offers extraordinary beauty of natural settings, attractive locations allowing us to shoot both at the sea and in the mountains. Shooting costs are usually higher than in Belgrade, but Montenegro still represents one of the best bargain-package seaside locations in Europe. If you decide to shoot there it is necessary to set apart more time for advance working and also to avoid the tourist season (June, July, August).
